There's A Site For That

I don’t know about you, but I haven’t met this person yet. And if I do, I’ll be in a pickle, already being married to someone else. What a painful shocker to discover a person can actually love you and get it wrong! Not just the little things, like whether your birthday celebration should be a surprise party or a quite dinner (quiet dinner) or your favorite food (Thai), but the trickier things, like the exact combination of words you need to hear when you’re upset, or how much alone time you need and when.
I’m not going out on a limb here - knowing yourself is an essential precursor to a good relationship. Otherwise we fall into the trap of “mind reading” - expecting others to magically know what we want without having to tell them. And along with that comes the huge unnecessary chore of trying to read other people’s minds, and believe it or not, even the most intuitive of us often get it wrong. So because the person who knows me better than I know myself doesn’t exist on this planet, I really don’t have another choice but to learn how to speak up. Other than optimistic space exploration.
